Weight Loss – Foods Low in Calories Aid in Weight Loss
In our weight loss efforts, we need to know which foods are low in calories, loaded with nutrition and fiber and proven to help us lose weight. The following are some proven foods that fit this category.
Celery
An eight inch stalk of celery contains approximately six calories. During the digestion process, your body must work harder by burning more calories to digest the fiber contained in the celery. Therefore, it has a negative calorie count.
Take advantage of this fact by adding raw celery to green salads or counteract the calorie effect of pasta by adding to that type of cold salad. Celery may also be an ingredient in freshly prepared vegetable juices.
Spinach
There are around seven calories contained in a cup of raw spinach. This vegetable enhances the burning of calories due to the high fiber content. Spinach also contains no fat and is low in cholesterol. In addition, spinach contains high levels of Vitamins A. C and Zinc. This is a very good addition to your diet. Spinach is most beneficial to digestive health.
Enjoy raw spinach in wraps or add liberally to your salad. This is another great addition to a fresh vegetable juice.
Cucumbers
One cup of cucumbers contains a whopping sixteen calories. Eat the peel to also get the benefit of a high content of fiber. This food also contains a good amount of water along with Vitamin C, potassium and magnesium.
Cucumbers are good for arthritis, stomach acid and inflammation.
Again, add to salads, vegetable juice or eat by itself.
Tomatoes
One medium tomato contains fifteen calories and lots of water. This vegetable is available year round. Although these are technically fruits, we usually consume them with other vegetables. They contain Vitamin A, C and K. Lycopene is probably the most beneficial nutrient in tomatoes which makes them a good anti-oxidant tool.
This food is excellent in salads or vegetable soup.
Did you see the pattern? These are all foods that are good additions to salads, perfect in the juicer for that vegetable drink, all contain water and fiber and are very low in calories.
Add these foods to your daily intake to help reduce calorie consumption. Any of these foods are great for lunch, dinner or between meal snacks.
Another tip is to purchase these foods in the produce aisle and stay away from canned. Fresh vegetables are always the better choice since no preservatives, salt or sugar are added.
