The Best Yoga DVDs For Men

Paul Hegarty asked:

Yoga

Being male myself I have to admit that I often had heard of the benefits of yoga but never really took part in any yoga classes.

I did however buy a yoga DVD and did watch it a number of times and practiced some of the poses. The truth been told, I never did so consistently.

I understand the importance of stretching etc, at least intellectually but there were many aspects of yoga that pointed towards the spiritual realm which I felt had its benefits but at the same time it kind of felt weird that this spiritual practice was turned into a commercial commodity.

Of course this was my personal take at the time, it does not mean much, just an opinion at a certain stage in my life.

Since then I have actually come to realize the true physical benefits of practicing yoga. Learning to breath properly makes sense to me.

Stretching

Stretching improves flexibility and muscle tone and like anything else if you do not exercise you will gain weight and become increasingly lethargic.

As for the spiritual, I feel that can be subjective and that is just an opinion. The truth of these matters need to be discovered for yourself and its not my place to tell anyone what to believe.

I have a tendency to approach things logically, I am more of a matter of fact type person. At least that is my approach thus far in life.

Health Benefits

The fact is Yoga has multiple health benefits which you can thoroughly research and I suggest you do. I am all about people discovering for themselves. In other words be your own person, be yourself.

If you want to improve you overall health and well being yoga is definitely worth going into. My understanding is that very few males practice yoga especially in the west.

Of course a lot of that has to do with how it is viewed but truly if you want to live your own life check it out for yourself. Practice it for a period of time and see how it actually benefits you.

You can do so in the comfort of your own home. Once you get the swing of it you can then join classes and at least when you’re in the class you will have some idea of how to practice the various poses.

Best Yoga DVDs

As for the best Yoga DVDs. I like to keep things simple & enjoyable, that way you will tend to do it more often. Start with the basic beginner DVDs, take your time and don’t over do it.

As mentioned when you feel comfortable you can then join classes and have even more fun. The main thing is to enjoy it and improve your health at the same time.

The funny thing is when enjoy stuff you generally are happier as a person anyway.
