Hair Loss – Vitamins Needed
I bet you did not know, that a proper diet is needed to keep your hair from falling out? Well eating right is necessary to get the right vitamins to your hair and their associated follicles. Here are some of the vitamins needed to keep your hair healthy. Along with the foods that are needed to provide these vitamins.
Omega – 3 – This is necessary to help with hair growth. It is especially important if you are trying to re-grow hair when using the drugs approved by the Federal Drug Association (FDA), Minoxidil or Propecia. Some excellent sources of omega – 3 can be found in salmon, trout, flax seeds and walnuts. Iron – Iron is necessary to prevent loss of your hair. Sources of iron can be found in animal products (heme iron) and vegetable products (non-heme iron). Heme iron is more rapidly absorbed by the blood and can be obtained from liver, eggs or seafood. Non-heme iron is not absorbed as rapidly by the blood. It can be found in various vegetables. Zinc – Zinc is needed for proper hair growth. It can be found in protein products such as beef, poultry, and fish. Vitamin C - If you have a vitamin C deficiency, there is a good chance you will lose some of your hair. Sources of vitamin C are fruits and vegetables. Copper - this is needed to bring out the color in your hair. You can get copper from liver, nuts and beans. Selenium - This is needed to prevent hair flaking. Good sources of selenium are found in nuts, fish, beef, pork and poultry. Vitamin B5 – Vitamin B5 is necessary to prevent hair loss. It can be found in liver, yogurt, some vegetables and fruits. Saw Palmetto – This is really classified as an herbal supplement and can only be found in pill form. It has been determined that it prevents hair loss and promotes hair growth.
These are some of the nutrients you need if you are experiencing hair loss. But if your hair loss is long termed, it is probably caused by genetic factors. Then just having the proper amount of vitamins will not help. These hair losses should be addressed by including these vitamins, plus one of the two FDA approved drugs, Minoxidil or Propecia.
Women should not use Propecia because it has been found to produce birth defects in babies. A 2% solution of Minoxidil can be used. Men can use either one to stop hair loss and re-grow hair.
